Polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE)

Polypropylene and polyethylene are polyolefins. Many of the properties of the two fibres are comparable. Some of the properties, which are determined by the molecular structure, differ, however. These materials are used, for example, for air conditioning and ventilation applications (dry and wet filtration) and for packaging purposes.

® is the trade name used by the Dutch manufacturer Royal DSM for its high-modulus (tension-resistant) polyethylene (PE). Dyneema® is used for many different purposes, including cut-resistant protective clothing, reinforcement, linen material for paragliders and parachutes.

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)

Fabrics made from PVC are used in chemical protection clothing, filters (all areas), sunscreen and household textiles as well as lorry and tent tarpaulins. They are highly resistant to chemicals (acids and lyes), are insensitive to biological influences, are very resistant to light and hydrolysis, are resistant to cold and are flame-retardant.

Dyneema® is a DSM Dyneema B.V. registered trademark.
